Dear friends,

The next Soul Seminars will be on the topic of the ‘Organic Super Computer’ Understanding our Brain for a Healthy Mind with counsellor and psychotherapist Ken Loftus.

ABOUT THE NIGHT

Every second our brains have the potential of having 17.2 billion actions. The 86 Billion neurons in an average human brain working in conjunction with each other, forming memories, associations, reactions and emotions, ironically work on less energy than a dim light bulb.
This information is not to ‘wow’ the reader, it is to see how fantastic our Brains are, and to see how they work as the most complicated organ in our body. The more we understand our fantastic brain, our own personal Organic Super Computer, the less likely we are to scold ourselves, to negatively look inward if we believe we have a “bad thought” or a “stupid reaction” to a situation. We give out to ourselves, our brain, for a negative thought however we don’t give out to our nose for smelling a foul odour!

This is an interactive workshop from Ken Loftus, who has been working in the Mental Health / Healthy Mind area for over 14 years, that combines Psycho-education, Mindfulness, CBT and Guided Imagery, to help us understand more about our Organic Super Computer Brains, and how we can train our Minds for a Healthier Self.

Ken works as an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist in his practice in Greystones, Co. Wicklow. Ken, as part of his practice, also delivers Workshops, and has facilitated at the Body and Soul section of Electric Picnic and the Spirit of Folk festival.
Ken’s background in Psychology, psychoanalysis, anthropology, guided imagery and counselling and psychotherapy has helped him put together a unique workshop that will have descriptions and interactive group exercises to help us have a Healthy Mind in a modern world of information super-highways. Registration is 7-00 to 7-30pm with the talk running from 7-30 to 9pm. We will then break for tea/coffee/biscuits and return for a Q&A and discussion group.

We hope to see you there!

Martin
