The retreat will be a journey of exploration “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious” (A. Einstein).

Who Am I? Where did I come From? Where are we Going? What is the meaning of Life?

The Evolutionary Story of the Universe will be the context for the retreat as participants explore together how the Universe ‘in all its manifold relationships, shows forth the inexhaustible richness of God’ (LS 86).

Within the miracle of God’s creative energy constantly alive in our world, really present in each and every aspect of creation we will grow in awareness and appreciation of our rightful place in the awesome web of life and focus on the privilege and responsibility that is ours in caring for our common home.

This calls us to conversion,  to re-connect with our deepest roots in the family of all creation since’ all of us are linked by unseen bonds and together form a kind of universal family, a sublime communion which fills us with a sacred, affectionate and humble respect’ (LS 89)

‘The conversion we seek entails a loving awareness that we are not separate from the rest of creatures but joined in a splendid universal communion’ (LS 220)

Growing in self –understanding ‘We are God’s work of Art’ (Eph 2:10)

Participants will endeavour to live into the consciousness articulated by Teilhard de Chardin  : ‘We are not human beings on a spiritual journey, we are spiritual beings on a human journey’.

The retreat will be contemplative, integrating cosmology, spirituality, scripture, theology, reflection, poetry, ritual (+outdoors) and engaging the whole person, the essence of who we are in the wonder of creation. The rhythm will include input, personal reflection, shared wisdom and creative expression.

Every day I walk out into the world to be dazzled, then to be reflective’.  (Mary Oliver)
