In our lives we all encounter people who seem to have a talent for treading on our toes, for getting up our noses, for really really annoying us. However we rarely take the trouble to ask ourselves why these people seem to have such power to provoke us. If we did ask we might be surprised to find that much of the answer lies unexpectedly close to home in that part of ourselves that C.G. Jung called our 'shadow' and which is constructed from all those aspects of ourselves that we find so negative or shameful that we simply banish them from our awareness.

But the banishment doesn't work. All unconsciously, we project our disowned negative energy onto others and then are astonished to find ourselves beset by people who play out precisely those personality traits and behaviours that we so vigorously disown in ourselves. Much of the destruction, racism, and terrorism in the world is created out of a misdirection of the fear and loathing that we feel for our own shadow selves and the considerable energy that we have to use to keep those shadows out of sight.

Paul Rebillot designed his 'Owning the Shadow' workshop with a double purpose: Firstly to enable us to own and face our shadow, the negative, dark energies within our being and then, secondly, to help us begin to open the doors of our heart so that we can talk to those onto whom we have projected this negative self, learning at last how to communicate with them as human beings like ourselves rather than as our enemies.

The workshop will be facilitated by a team from The Fool's Dance Gestalt Company who are graduates of Paul Rebillot's Advanced Training and have been authorised by him to lead his workshops.
