Marrakech is Morocco's fourth largest city. Situated in the Northwest at the foothills of the Atlas mountains, it is known as the 'red city' due to the blush coloured walls that surround it. At its heart you will find guaranteed year-round sunshine, Africa's largest Market square (Djemaa El-fna) and colourful souks piled high with glimmering lamps, bright spices, delicacies, exquisite carpets, rugs and leather. For all its vibrancy, you will still find an oasis of calm in the many historical Royal gardens that are filled with exotic plants, bubbling streams, water lilies and lotus flowers, and are known for having inspired many artists, writers and fashion designers over the years.

This small group holiday includes traditional Skyros community structures which enable people to get to know each other quickly and feel at home straightaway. This makes it an ideal choice for solo travellers and small groups of friends.

The holiday includes 5 nights' twin shared accommodation, breakfast, arrival dinner, courses, local tours and an excursion. Join Sarah Livingstone and be inspired by Moroccan design with her Journal Making course in November. In this course, participants will experiment with some unusual structures for handmade books, complete a concertina-folded sketchbook or journal, and use lino or cyanotype printmaking processes to decorate its cover. Materials will be provided, although please feel free to bring any special (e.g. decorated, coloured or printed) papers, text or images that you would like to incorporate. The course will be suitable for any level of creative experience or confidence, including none!

You will spend your 5 nights in the heart of the most historic district of the Marrakech Medina. The Riad will be situated in an exceptional location close to the Musée de Marrakech, and a 10 minute walk from the famous Jemma al Fna square and the southern Souks.
