The Integrated Psyche (Healing the Inner Divide: Trauma, Conflicts, Complexes, and Addictions)
‘The right way to wholeness is made up of fateful detours and wrong turnings.’ C.G. Jung

Each of us has an inherent divide. This divide has two aspects – a collective, impersonal aspect which is part of our human heritage; and a personal aspect resulting from our complexes and conflicts with our environment. We might experience this divide as a conflict of interests between intimacy and freedom, laziness and change, selfishness and altruism, body and mind. No matter which option we choose, it always feels like the wrong decision. Stress, depression, guilt and regret are the inevitable consequences.

However, if we can withstand the tension of the conflict without choosing one side over the other, something amazing happens – a unified consciousness begins to develop, and all the previously fragmented parts of our nature begin to unite, cohere and interact in the most astonishing of harmonies. Jung termed this process the theme of continuous co-habitation, symbolized by the eternal embrace of Siva and Parvati, whose union creates the golden womb which gives birth to the cosmos (or the new psychic reality).

Day 1
The Healthy Ego: Understanding the structure of the ego and the ego defences which can break down the unity of the psyche.

Day 2
Archetypal, Social, and Personal Fragmentation: How we are driven to over-compensate for our rejected aspects with mostly disastrous results.

Day 3
Generational Healing: The ‘family soul’, a layer of the psyche embedded between the personal and the collective unconscious, seeks to heal through children born in later generations. Investigating family trees and the ancestral trauma and karma which needs healing today.

Day 4
Identifying Our Inner Divide: This is the major split in our psyche around which cluster a whole range of attitudes, behavioural patterns, and addictions which dictate our decisions and choices.

Day 5
Stress and Anxiety: Narcissism and how our lives swing between self-indulgent greed and feelings of powerlessness. Regaining a strong sense of self.

Day 6
The Middle Ground: By reining in our knee-jerk reactions, we intensify and focus our libido. This enables us to integrate opposites and embrace the ever-widening gyres of paradoxical reality.

During the course we’ll be working with dreams, symbols, drawing, and other diagnostic techniques.
