Eco Supervision - for new and established supervisors
An Talamh, Skreen , Co Sligo
“We are talking only to our ourselves. We are not talking to the rivers, we are not listening to the wind and the stars. We have broken the great conversation” Thomas Berry, The Dream of the Earth
“We strongly agree that supervision should not be reduced to the human and material realms, but should also be open to the ‘more than human world’ (Hawkins & Shohet, 2012: 110)
“ Our body moves as our mind moves. The qualities of any movement are a manifestation of how mind is expressing through the body at that moment” Bainbridge-Cohen 2008, p4
This weekend will explore
- incorporating the supervisory relationship and conversation into the natural environment.
- alternative ways of working in supervision through the body moving ( for both supervisee and supervisor)
- a broad theoretical outline for this work and practical application of the theory.
- outdoor work , if weather allows.
Participants are invited to bring case material from their work so they may leave the workshop with “ take away and use it” material and ideas.
What previous participants have said
" The content opened up a whole new area in supervision"
"I am still processing the weekend of Eco-supervision and being more aware of my presence in nature and nature’s presence in me. I used the outdoor work with adolescents in the unit and it changed them from closed quiet adolescents to talkative young people."
" The notion of developing the internal supervisor was excellent, great description and space to practice. I found this a highlight"
" Working with Therese has inspired me to bring my full attention to the influence of place and movement within the context of offering supervision.I feel enlivened and inspired to explore embodiement, embeddedness and emergence further"
